Jake Thomason

With a voice described as “rich”, “full”, and “heroic”, tenor Jake Thomason has delighted audiences both domestically and abroad in opera, musical theater, concert, recital and oratorio venues. Last season Jake was a featured soloist in two concerts with organizations in Mobile, AL where he performed “Oh Holy Night.” He also joined GLOW Lyric Theater for their performance of Poul Ruders’ operatic telling of Margaret Atwood’s classic novel The Handmaid’s Tale. Jake’s career began in earnest in 2009 when he performed the role of Ferrando in Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart’s Così fan tutte at the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar, Germany. He went on to participate in the concert-version of Jules Massenet’s Werther, in which he sang the title role. Other notable roles have included Lippo Fiorentino in Kurt  Weill’s Street Scene with Harrower Opera Workshop in the summer of 2013, Annas in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and the title role in Gounod's Faust with Mosaic-Arts in partnership with Opera Carolina. In 2014, Mr. Thomason appeared in the SC NATSAA competition where he was a finalist and advanced to the Regional level. Other notable competition appearances are as a Finalist in the Heafner-Williams competition in 2020 (finals cancelled due to COVID), a semi-finalist in the Heafner-Williams competition in 2021, and a finalist in the Marker and Pioneer competition in 2022 where he won the tenor category.He has appeared in concerts with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, the Spartanburg Philharmonic, the Brugnatelli Singing and  Conducting Symposium in Robbiate Italy, the South Carolina Bach Organization, as well as multiple church concert orchestras.This season sees Jake performing a dual role as both music director and performer for Center Stage’s production of All is Calm.
